This spring, Grace Montessori School hosted our Legacy of Learning Annual Benefit. It would not have been a true celebration of our educational legacy without including our students in the evening’s activities. Our students in classrooms 2, 3 and 4 worked together throughout the spring to create artwork to auction during the year-end ceremony. It was meaningful to have all of the helping hands at Grace Montessori School contribute to part of our evening!
A few months before the event, our teachers created project ideas, ensuring that each classroom had an age-appropriate way to get creative and discover through art. The projects were:
- Classroom 1: Alice in Wonderland-inspired chess set
- Classroom 2: painted table and chair set
- Classroom 3: creative interpretations of a sunset
- Classroom 4: watercolor circles
Once the projects were decided, students assembled their individual parts of the project to make a final version they could all be proud of. For example, in classroom 3’s project, each student painted his or her version of a sunset, and they were all compiled together into one final piece for the auction. Parents could clearly see their child’s contribution to the project.
These projects are special to everyone in the Grace Montessori community, especially parents, grandparents, and caretakers. The projects are personalized mementos of their child’s time at our school. Teachers and administrators are also always impressed by the creativity showcased in these projects and even try to guess which students created which parts of each artwork.
